What is TCF IRN?The TCF for French nationality (TCF IRN) is specifically designed to meet the new provisions introduced by the Ministère français de l’Intérieur, de l’Outre-mer, des Collectivités territoriales et de l’Immigration relating to the assessment of French language proficiency for applicants for French citizenship.
Who can take it?Candidates must be at least 16 years of age to take the TCF test.
Candidates may take the test several times, allowing for a minimum of 30 days between two exam sessions.
What will be assessed?The TCF IRN is composed of 4 compulsory tests evaluating the competences in French as a general language:
- Oral comprehension: 15 min – 20 questions
- Written comprehension: 20 min – 20 questions
- Written expression: 30 min – 3 exercises
- Oral expression: 10 min – 3 exercises
