TEFAQ (Test Évaluation de Français adapté au Québec)

What is it TEFaq? | The Test of Evaluation of French Adapted for Quebec (TEFaq) is a test that aims to measure the candidates’ level of proficiency in French, in both speaking & listening. Candidates also have the possibility to assess their skills in reading and writing. The TEFaq test is recognised by the Quebec Ministry for Immigration, Diversity, and Inclusion (MIDI) for Québec Selection Certificate applications. The TEFAQ is also recognized by IRCC to apply for Canadian citizenship |
Who can take it? | Candidates must be at least 16 years of age to take the TEF test. Candidates may take the test several times, allowing for a minimum of 30 days between two exam sessions. |
What will be assessed? | The TEF Québec (TEFAQ) examination consists of four tests: Oral comprehension: 40 min – 60 questions Oral expression: 15 min – 2 topics Written comprehension: 60 min – 50 questions Written expression: 60 min – 2 topics MAIN APPLICANT: knowledge of French must be at minimum level 7 (advanced intermediate) of the Échelle québécoise des niveaux de compétence en français des personnes immigrantes adultes (in French) or equivalent (level 2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) to obtain points. Depending of the immigration program, main applicant spouse’s oral knowledge of French may be assessed. In this case, his/her knowledge of French must be at minimum level 4. |
